Last fall, students from Linköping University conducted a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of Advance 2.0, one of our best-selling products. One challenge was analyzing the climate impact, particularly from electronics, which accounted for a significant portion of the adverse effects. To gain a better understanding of the situation, we have now initiated a project.
In the LCA conducted last fall, we adhered to a principle: We applied the worst-case scenario for all uncertain results. While we believe reality is likely better, we cannot be sure. Therefore, we have hired Miljögiraff, specialists in LCA with extensive experience and deep expertise in the field. They will help us validate the data from our previous analysis, essentially determining whether it is accurate or if, hopefully, the actual situation is better.
Focus on Electronics
Miljögiraff has been tasked with conducting an in-depth analysis of the climate impact of electronics. We hope this will provide a clearer understanding of what contributes negatively, enabling us to identify areas for improvement and make changes in the future.
Training in LCA Tools
Miljögiraff will also train us to use various tools to conduct our own LCA analyses. We believe this skill is essential for making informed decisions during the design process and throughout the product lifecycle. This work will continue through the spring.
