Refurbish and extend lifespan.
What have we learned from the first year of refurbishing Mousetrappers?

In 2025, we launched our program to offer refurbishment of your Mousetrapper. So what have we learned, and what conclusions can we draw?

The direct reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to buying a new product is significant. Each refurbished unit is estimated to save around 85% CO₂ compared to a new one. That’s substantial.

Many are willing to buy, few return products
The feedback we’ve received shows that many are positive about buying refurbished products, they even come with a 2-year warranty. The challenge is that few people actually return their products. This may be because the offering is still relatively unknown, and stronger incentives are needed to move from intention to action.

More resellers need to be involved
A key factor for success is getting more resellers on board. There are logistical challenges that need to be solved, and the business model must be further refined to become more attractive.

Different approaches
We have tested several approaches, such as trade-in programs, discounts, and direct collection. Most likely, a combination of measures is needed along with greater awareness that you can get a “like-new” Mousetrapper by refurbishing instead of buying new.

We have taken our first steps toward offering refurbishment. We have learned a great deal and will continue working to ensure that more people discover the benefits of thinking smarter and extending the life of the products they use, such as their Mousetrapper.
