What is sustainable – and what is unsustainable? A journey we do not know where it ends

For several years, Mousetrapper has struggled with the question of how we can become a more sustainable company. As a producer of technical products, it is a challenge, but now we have started a process where we must shed light on what we do from every conceivable perspective. We want to be truly sustainable, which means taking a circular responsibility. Our business and our products must have as little negative climate impact as possible. We have a Sustainability Policy as a basis, but now we want to move forward. Our goal is to design a sustainability strategy and a management system that really supports us in our work and does not just become a certification that we tick off.

The journey starts right now

We know what we want, but what is possible? Right now we are taking the help of experts from Environmental Mathematics, to help us outline our role and our responsibilities. We have had some first meetings in the spring of 2020, and have started by trying to gain a basic knowledge of the questions that we need to answer.

The first questions we discussed were as basic as “What is sustainable?”, And “What is not sustainable?”. From there, we went on to discuss what opportunities and risks we saw in starting a serious sustainability work.

The more I learn, the less I know

Now we have been working on the basics for a while and I realize how much I haven’t thought about or understood. Achieving what I dream of will not be easy and we will see what is possible. But the ambitions are high and we will do our best. I want us to be a role model and something we can be proud of.
